Paul Baer established Motorenfabrik Paul Baer in Berlin in 1908, initially supplying engines to other manufacturers and to the sports-boat trade. From 1920 until 1926 the company also sold a small automobile under the Baer badge. Its only documented vehicle type was the 4/14 PS, powered by a 770 cc two-cylinder two-stroke engine producing approximately 17–18 hp through a four-speed gearbox. The 750–800 kg car could reach roughly 80 km/h, and at least one entered the 1923 small-car race at Berlin's AVUS. No second Baer automobile model is established.
