Alan Wilkinson founded his Yeovil, Somerset, engineering business in 1979, initially producing fiberglass work for customers including aircraft manufacturers. Automobile and kit production began in 1990 under the AWE badge. Its doorless Roadster used a modified Triumph chassis and glass-reinforced-plastic body: the Pintall carried cycle-type front wings that steered with the wheels, while the Redwing used fixed wings. Buyers could select four-cylinder Triumph Herald or six-cylinder Vitesse foundations. Production ended in 1998 after approximately fifteen cars across both variants.
