F. W. Dickinson founded the Automotor Company at Columbus, Ohio, in spring 1910 with 50,000 dollars capital. Engineer W. E. L. Beck finalized Dickinson's unconventional delivery vehicle: two motorcycle-style frames supported a central freight platform rated for 1,000 pounds, propelled by a 5 hp engine and two-speed transmission. This single documented product targeted the lightest commercial-delivery work. The enterprise disappeared in 1912 and had no connection with the earlier Hinsdale Smith Automotor operation at Springfield, Massachusetts, so the catalog qualifies the Ohio identity.
