Raymond Craig founded Autocult at Dunbar, East Lothian, in 1982. The first project was a conventional AC Cobra replica, of which exactly one was completed in 1982–1983. Craig followed it with the unusual Tigress, a rounded fiberglass 2+2 coupé on Volkswagen Beetle chassis and rear-engine mechanicals whose doors opened upward in Countach fashion. Only about two or a very few Tigresses were built before the firm ended production in 1985, leaving total output at roughly three vehicles.
