Maurice Mestivier and Roger Lepeytre established Autobleu in 1950, building on a 1948–1950 Simca racing special and finding commercial success with intake and exhaust systems for Renault's 4CV. A coachbuilt 4CV luxury coupé entered limited production in 1953. Marcel Riffard then shaped the unique 750 Mille Miles works racer, whose Porsche-developed Renault engine and aerodynamic GTR body competed in the Mille Miglia and at Reims. Automobile production ended in 1957, although Pietro Frua designed a final Peugeot 204-based GT prototype in 1967. The parts business, which supplied Renault and others at substantial scale, continued until 1971.
