Auto Mirage was founded near Bologna in 1972 and initially concentrated on fiberglass recreational buggies, including Mirage, Pirana and Moon Buggy designs. The 1974 Pick Wick, also sold as Amigo, placed an open utility body over Fiat 126 mechanicals. In 1976 the company entered the ultralight microcar field with the 2.15-metre Mirage 3, a two-seat tricycle powered by a 49 cc, 4 hp Franco Morini engine. The final SR 3 and four-wheel SR 4 replaced it in 1981 and remained until manufacture ceased in 1985.
