Designer Michael Booth founded Atlantis Motor Company at Thetford in 1980 and began customer production in 1982. His A1 was a very long, individually finished evocation of prewar French luxury cars, offered as a fixed-head coupe and an open DHC also known as Alcaeus. Most used Jaguar XJ6 six-cylinder chassis and running gear; one competition car received Chevrolet V8 power. Complete cars initially started near £39,000 before kit availability broadened the offer. Approximately fourteen vehicles of all forms were produced through 1986. The body moulds later passed through Ronart ownership and returned to Booth, but proposed revivals are not counted as production.
