Atalanta Motors began production at Staines in 1937 with technically ambitious sports cars using independent suspension and Gough-designed overhead-camshaft four-cylinder engines. Buyers could specify 1½- or 2-litre power, supercharging and several wheelbases and bodies. A 4.3-litre Lincoln-Zephyr V12 joined the range in 1938 and became the more popular choice; isolated open specials used supercharged or very large American engines. High prices and the approach of war restricted total production to roughly twenty cars, and original manufacture ended in 1939. A later revival is historically separate from this original production series.
