Bruce West founded Asquith Motors in 1981 and began producing the Ford Transit-based Shire delivery van in 1982. The compact Reliant-derived Shetland and the Mascot and Palace minibuses expanded a deliberately nostalgic commercial range whose handmade construction found customers in Britain and overseas; histories credit the original operation with more than one thousand vehicles. The first company later failed, and subsequent owners attempted several revivals, acquiring Royale designs and proposing Iveco-based, taxi and electric projects. Because many revival announcements did not become verified production, the catalog separates established vehicles from projects.
