The Asquith family business was founded at Thornhill, West Yorkshire, in 1912, but its documented passenger-car program began in 1985 with a painstaking aluminum-bodied replica of the rare Riley MPH. About six of that first version were completed. From 1989, Series 2 and 3 used a spaceframe, fiberglass panels and Ford Sierra running gear to reduce cost, reaching roughly thirty combined examples by 1999. The four-wheel, Bond Bug-inspired Penny appeared in 1999 with Yamaha R1 power and approximately four builds. This marque is unrelated to Asquith Motors, the commercial-vehicle replica maker, and no unsupported modern production continuity is inferred.
