Automotive-component pioneer José Artés de Arcos used his Barcelona enterprise and extensive patent portfolio to sponsor complete vehicles from 1966. Jaume Xifré and Selex developed the Guepardo Formula IV racer in 250 and 850 cc forms, with nineteen built. The exceptionally low 1967 Campeador sports prototype used Renault 8 Gordini power but a workshop fire ended its production prospects. Artés returned in 1971 with the Gato Montés, a watertight six-wheel-drive amphibious ATV; about 200 Citroën- or Bultaco-powered examples were sold and related designs were licensed abroad.
