Eugen Arbenz began building automobiles and trucks at Albisrieden in 1904. Passenger-car manufacture lasted only that opening year; from 1905 the factory concentrated on commercial vehicles for civilian users and the Swiss Army, later adding buses. Arbenz became Albisrieden's largest employer during the First World War and produced 87 vehicles in 1918. A documented 1909 24/30 PS truck carried 2.5 tonnes at a 5,068 kg permissible gross weight. The company entered liquidation in March 1922; Edwin Oetiker acquired the works in 1924, but later Oetiker vehicles are a successor lineage rather than Arbenz production.
