Michael and Louise Anstead founded ARA Racing in Hertford in November 2003; Anthony Richard Anstead joined in 2004. Production began with the Ford-based Lowcost, around twelve of which were made in 2005–2006. ARA's more ambitious Le Mans Rogue or Roque recreated the form of Aston Martin's DBR1/DBR2 racers around Jaguar power and was offered as a finished specialist car. Financial problems stopped production in 2007, after which AS Motorsport continued developing the DBR-inspired design. ARA Racing Limited was formally dissolved in March 2009.
