Sicilian industrialist and politician Eugenio Oliveri founded APIS at Palermo in 1903 by acquiring Pietro Corsi's mechanical-construction and foundry works while retaining Corsi as director. The unusually broad vehicle catalogue listed 4–10 hp electrics, 5–10 hp gasoline cars with one, two, four or eight cylinders, and 25–50 hp steam cars. Buyers could specify reverse, cardan or chain drive, and APIS promoted its patented fan cooling. Surviving sources do not establish sustained volume or a precise closing date, so the catalog preserves the advertised engineering classes rather than invented nameplates.
