L'Avant Train Amiot et Péneau began work at Asnières-sur-Seine in 1897. Its first Amiot products were powered front-axle modules rather than conventional cars: a two-cylinder 6 hp unit could be installed by a coach or chassis builder or hitched directly in place of a carriage's horse team. Under the later Amiot-Péneau name, the design became a two-wheel avant-train offered with Daniel Augé petrol engines or O. Patin electric motors. The modules powered multiple carriage and omnibus bodies without making each body a separate factory model. Production ended in 1902.
