American Buckboard Corporation introduced a tiny two-seat fiberglass roadster at Los Angeles in 1955. Although it appeared four-wheeled, an undriven rear axle sat behind the seats and a fifth central wheel at the tail received chain drive from a 25 hp air-cooled motorcycle V-twin. The unusual car was 3.05 metres long and initially cost nearly as much as a full-size upper-middle-class automobile. For 1955–1956 the unchanged design was renamed Bearcat and cut to $1,000, but neither identity attracted sustainable demand.
