Engineer Manuel Pazos directed América Autos at Barcelona and applied several patented ideas to its 1917 Tipo A, including rotary conical distributors in place of valves, synchronized carburetion and gearbox, pressure lubrication, worm drive and optional elastic wheels. Commercial failure prompted the simpler 1,097 cc Tipo B in 1919, whose Alfons Lucas body drew favorable attention at the Barcelona Auto Show. A single overhead-valve Tipo C competition car followed in 1921. The factory closed in 1922 after producing no further type.
