Hebina Plastics introduced the exotic fiberglass coupé at Santa Clara, California, in 1969 as the Gazelle. When the business became Voegele Industries in 1970, the car was renamed Amante GT. Performance Designers of Florida took over in 1971, followed by Amante Cars of Chamblee, Georgia, in 1973; manufacture ended in 1975 and Brazilian firm Nirico built it under licence. Standard kits used the Volkswagen Type 3 chassis for its disc brakes and fuel-injected flat-four, while an optional tube frame accepted a Corvair flat-six or rear-mid-mounted V8. Approximately 150 are commonly reported.
