Alvis

Alvis began in Coventry in 1919 as the Alvis Car and Engineering Company, following the earlier TG John business, and became one of Britain's significant specialist makers of sports, touring and luxury cars. Its pre-war program developed from the 10/30 through six-cylinder and overhead-valve models such as the Silver Eagle and Speed 25, with coachbuilt bodies supplied by a wide range of British firms. Alvis also diversified into aero engines, armoured vehicles and other engineering work; those activities should not be confused with the car marque. Passenger-car production continued after the Second World War with models including the TA, TC and TD series, but the original car program ended in the 1960s and later Alvis Vehicles activity belongs to a separate successor organization. The catalog preserves Alvis's own model identities and does not turn an Alvis-bodied car from another make into an Alvis chassis.
