Former racing rider Nilo Masó Miró founded Alpha at Barcelona in 1924, initially using Villiers and DKW 175 and 250 cc two-strokes. Attractive machines made Alpha a leading pre-Civil War Spanish motorcycle marque. Postwar shortages redirected the workshop toward military rebuilds and Celta auxiliary engines. A 1948 partnership created MV Alpha, producing 125 cc Standard, Lujo and Sport machines plus a 98 until capacity constraints transferred the licence to Avello in 1951. Alpha then pursued Evycsa/FITA-AMC machines, motocarros and a Bantam-inspired 175, but declined and closed in 1957.
