Thomas F. Ahern and Daniel D. Hanover incorporated the Alpena Motor Car Company at Alpena, Michigan, in June 1910 and acquired equipment from the failed Wolverine Motor Car Company. Production began with the 1911 Flyer, promoted as a light, fast and unusually valuable car, and expanded through Four and Six ranges with touring, roadster, tonneau, runabout, torpedo and tourabout bodies. Roughly 480 cars were made across thirteen marketed model designations before a costly suspension-patent judgment and cash shortage forced insolvency in 1914. One 1911 Standard Touring survives at the Besser Museum.
