Alfi originated within Alex Fischer's AG für Akkumulatoren- und Automobilbau, which had produced AAA electric vehicles for customers including the German postal service. As the business moved into gasoline cars, the Alfi name—derived from Fischer's own name—appeared on small automobiles with 780 cc, 940 cc and 1,320 cc engines between 1921 and 1925. Fischer revived the marque through Alfi Automobile GmbH in 1927. The second company built DKW-powered three-wheeled cars and vans plus a small-series four-wheeled Sport model before closing in 1928.
