Albatross was conceived in 1939 as an American venture to market an ultra-streamlined four-seat sports tourer derived from a European custom car owned by cartoonist Peter Arno. Its promoters planned a bespoke body over a standard Mercury chassis lengthened to a 137-inch wheelbase and advertised the proposal in at least one periodical. At least one car was completed, but the commercial program never came to fruition, leaving Albatross as a one-off/prototype marque rather than a series manufacturer.
