Autohaus Südhannover of Göttingen entered automobile production in 1969 under the AHS badge. Its sole model, the Imp, adapted an American Engineered Motor Products buggy design to Volkswagen Beetle chassis and flat-four mechanicals beneath an open plastic body. AHS sold both kits and complete cars, with 1972 prices of DM 3,220 and DM 9,100 respectively. From 1977 Karmann in Osnabrück manufactured some vehicles while AHS continued distribution. Production ended around 1978, completing the marque's one-model lineage.
