Alexander T. Fraser founded Antique Automobiles Limited at Baston near Peterborough in 1971 and completed a single wooden-bodied prototype intended as the AB 1. Later that year he moved to Sleaford, formed A. T. Fraser Limited with support from Colin Crabbe, adopted the AF badge and began selling complete three-wheelers and kits. The company moved again in 1972 to Marlborough, Wiltshire, and traded as A. F. until production ended in 1980. Every AF used a BMC Mini engine, transmission and front subframe ahead of an open doorless two-seat body with one rear wheel. About nine AF 1 cars followed the prototype; the four-car Grand Prix replaced full-height wings and upright glass with steering cycle wings, twin aeroscreens and a side-mounted spare. Total output was approximately fourteen, including the prototype. Children's classic-car miniatures attributed to the early business are not counted as road-car models.
