The Erste Automobil-Gesellschaft für Österreich began building automobiles in Vienna in 1899 under the Aesculap badge. Its only model used a horizontal 3.5 hp engine at the rear with an unusual combination described as air and water or fin and water cooling. Three or four occupants sat facing one another in a vis-à-vis body, with larger rear than front wheels and a claimed 30–35 km/h speed. The car appeared at the Austrian Automobile Club's first international exhibition in the Vienna Prater in 1900, the year production ended. This identity is separate from Berlin Äskulap and Paris Esculape.
